Travel update

The show was a blast. Thanks to the staff and cre at Power City Electric and northen Quest casino for a fun experience.

This is Sunday. My day has started early with the first flight leaving at 5:35 local time. Nothing out of the ordinary so far. At security, I had to take my shoes off, xrayed the laptop and had a very pleasant lady look through my carry on suitcase.

As I write this - am in Seattle just as they are boarding United flight 821 to San Francisco. The captain introduced himself by coming out to the terminal, picked up the microphone with the following words: "I am your captain and I would like to introduce myself as this is my very first flight.....today. Now that I got your attention, I want you to know that I take your security very seriously and to expect a smooth ride. We will be arriving a few minutes early so you will have a little extra time to make your connections." I paraphrase of course, but it was refreshing to hear someone starting out a day with a smile - a sure sign of enjoyment of what they do. I was given a card on the way in. We are flying a Boeing 757-200.

The reason I am heading to San Francisco is that it is beginning of March, start of spring break, and all the flights on this itinerary were full.

The captain told us to listen to channel 9 if we are aviation enthusiasts, but ground control renumberd our flight to 8135. I thought I must be an enthusiast so I listened until we took off. Then I fell asleep. The seat next to me was empty again. Nobody to drool on.

I enjoyed mizo soup and tempura at Tomokazu at the San Francisco airport.. Then I had to switch terminals to catch my flight to Toronto via Air Canada. While waiting for the bus, I got a chance to stand outside in warm weather and sun. On the ride over got a glimpse of the Bay bridge in the distance.

The flight home was basically uneventful except the lady next to me was reading a book and listening to music at the same time, which struck me odd - not many people can do that.

Good to be home.
