Johnny Carson

Johnny Carson died Jan 23 and the news of this event quickly spread throughout the word of showbusiness. Everyone has their own take on the man and what he did for entertainment world. I too, was one of many touched by Johnny - an aspiring performer I have attended many tapings and saw him live in action. I watched his every action in hopes of learning how to become a great showman. The man was a true pro and was able to make every moment memorable. His comedic timing was effortless in delivery and execution. Comedians and variety acts that appeared on the show would consider their debut on the Tonight Show their big break into showbusiness. If you got an OK sign from Johnny - that meant you are going far. That was the sign of approval. Many years later, when I appeared on the Howie Mandel Show (which was taped at the old Tonight Show Studio at NBC in Burbank), I asked Howie to give me Johnny's OK sign in the commercial break if he felt I was doing ok.
